After I finished my Atlantic Wall projects in The Netherlands and Denmark, I left for Norway in May 2019 for an impression of the fortifications around Stavanger and other places in Rogaland. Again, I found the many concrete bunkers that were built according to a standardised design, but the rocky fjord landscape of Norway provided a completely new experience of the Atlantic Wall.
Many fortifications are built into the rocks and provide a formidable camouflage. The bunkers in the sparsely populated areas are rarely visited and sometimes still have original steel doors and German texts on the walls. During my trip I decided to name the project Kystfort, which is Norwegian for "coastal fort".
