I'm André Ruiter from Putten, The Netherlands. I have two great passions: travelling and landscape photography. These two passions complement each other very well. I shoot primarily in black and white, but when colors are irresistible I choose color. I find my inspiration in themes like: decay, melancholly and drama. That's the reason I prefer shooting during autumn and winter. For me autumn and winter are the most moody seasons. I'm lucky to live in a small village surrounded by old forests. This is a favorite playground for me.
During my education at Fotovakschool in Apeldoorn I worked on two photography projects. These projects were based on the theme: historical landscape. I liked working on these projects so much that I decided to continue working on photo projects after Fotovakschool. Currently I'm working on a project with the name Grebbelinie. It will be an impression of an old militairy defense line in The Netherlands. I hope to continue this project in april 2012.
Most of the time I shoot digital with a Canond EOS 5D MKII, but sometimes I pick up my Bronica SQ-A medium format to shoot the old fashioned way. I'm addicted to the lenses of Carl Zeiss.
